Walker Bay 8 Oar Retaining Line
Category: Walker Bay 8, oar, rowboat, rowing
Problem: The Walker Bay 8 oarlocks were designed so the oars would slide within the orelock rings so the oarlocks could be kept in place while the oars could be shipped inside when not being used. However, I found that the oars did not stay in position and would move inward away from the oarlock stop.
Action: I added a small jam cleat on the oar with a line attached to the oarlock that held the oars in place against the oarlock stop on the oar. When the oars were to be shipped the line was quickly released.
Result” It worked Great!
