Dock Electrical Outdoor Plug Cover
Category: Electrical, plugs, sockets, weather protection
Problem: The receptacle for my dock power supply is configured for outdoor use, meaning that it has a hinged cover which will go over the receptacle when the plug is not inserted in the receptacle. When the plug is inserted, the receptacle and the plug are exposed to the elements and can collect all sorts of debris in and around the plugs in addition to allowing moisture to enter.
Action: I wanted the receptacle to be protected when the plug was inserted. I found a piece of plastic, cut it to shape, and wedged it in above the receptacle, basically forming a roof. Now there is very little chance of moisture or debris making its way between the receptacle and the plug.
Result: It works great!
