Dock Electrical Cord Slip Stand
Category: Electrical cord storage, electrical cord bracket, yard
Problem: There is an electrical cord that runs from a pole on the shore out to my dock. This cord is extra long to allow for the dock to be moved out as the water recedes. Of course, when the water is up, the cord is shorter and needs to be coiled or hung up in some way. A typical cord or hose holder is designed to be mounted so that there is a lip on the outside that keeps the cord or hose from falling off the support. In this case, it is important to have the cord be able to be pulled off the holder without any restraints. If one forgets to unplug the cord or take the cord off the holder, when one is moving the dock out, lots of damage could be done to the electrical connections. also if someone inadvertently catches the cord that is lying on the ground and beach, the cord is immediately pulled from the bracket
Action: I had, from another house, a garden hose holder that I connected to the electrical pole in the reverse manner so that should the cord be inadvertently be pulled somehow, it would fall off, preventing any damage.
Result: It works great!
