Sunfish with Walker Bay 8 Daggerboard
Category: Sunfish, sailboat, boat
Problem: The Sunfish Daggerboard is not very hydro-dynamically efficient.
Action: To see if a more hydro-dynamically efficient daggerboard would increase the Sunfish speed, I substituted the dagger board from a Walker Bay 8.
Result: Was still trying it out when I sold the boat. It side slipped more than the regular daggerboard since it is smaller, however, I didn’t have it out in winds where it might really make a difference.
Additional Thoughts: This used in conjunction with the Hobie kayak rudder, which is also smaller than the Sunfish rudder, but more hydro-dynamically efficient, might really be a fun combination.
