Wood Chipper Cover
Category: Wood Chipper, cover, top, protection, yard equipment
Problem: I bought a small electric wood chipper. When I put a garbage bag over it to protect it from the rain as I was storing it, the bag formed an indentation in the top and collected water, creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes, in addition to creating kind of a mess.
Action: I took a piece of plywood, cut it to the outer dimensions of the top of the wood chipper, put some long screws in that would catch in the wood chipper openings to hold it in place, and then I cut short lengths of vinyl tubing to put over the ends of the long screws for safety.
Result: It worked great! So now when I put the large garbage bag over the top, the water just runs right off.
Additional Thoughts: If there was a rim around the cover where it could sit over the top it would stay in place and those protruding screws would no longer be needed. I ended up making that further modification.
