Grill Top Circle Retainer Ring
Category: Household, grill, grill cover, hinge
Problem: The inexpensive gas grill that I bought has a cover that slips and pins into some holes, forming a hinge, so it could be opened and closed. To keep the lid from sliding off, the right side of the grill had a hole in it with a retaining pin. One day I went to open the grill and the top nearly fell off because the pin had come out of the hole.
Action: Instead of replacing the pin, I decided I would put a large key chain ring in which then wouldn’t fall out. I had to drill out the hole a little to accommodate the ring.
Result: It works great!
Additional Thoughts: It should be original equipment to either have a stainless steel quick release pin that would not sip out or a stainless steel ring, since normally one does not take the top off the grill unless you are doing an industrial strength cleaning.
