Bandsaw Vac Accessory
Category: Band saw, shop vac, dust collector, tool
Problem: The small Ryobi band saw had an opening in the back for the insertion of a vacuum cleaner tube. However, the way it was sitting on my workbench there wasn’t room to insert the tube, and when I opened the front to change or adjust the blade, the tube had to be removed.
Action: I inserted a 90-degree PVC pipe elbow so the vacuum tube could be inserted from the front of the workbench and then the tube could be easily removed when the front was opened with the 90-degree PVC elbow and the connector portion remaining attached to the front that opens.
Result: It works great! Because there is a 90-degree elbow, the front panel could be opened wider than if it had a straight tube there.
Additional Thoughts: The other day I happened to see an old Craftsman bandsaw that had a 90-degree elbow coming out for the vac attachment.
