Mouth Rinse Squeeze Measuring Bottle Refill Port
Category: Liquid measure dispenser, refillable, measuring dosage, bathroom, teeth, dental
Problem: I came across a mouthwash for children that had a fitting on top that when the bottle was squeezed, the liquid would come up, and because there was a hole in the little nozzle in the cup, the excess liquid would run out, leaving the measured amount. I had some prescribed mouthwash that I thought this would be great for. However, the way the bottle was constructed, this dispensing apparatus was an integral part of the bottle. If I wanted to fill the bottle, I could pour the liquid into the cup and very slowly let it go in, however I guess I was too impatient.
Action: I drilled a hole about 3/8” in diameter in the shoulder of the bottle and used a nylon caulking cap as a stopper. Now the bottle can be readily refilled and it is easy to measure the exact amount.
Result: It works great!

Current status: In use.
Since it was originally done: It would be great for this measuring device to be as a self contained unit to screw into the tops of various liquids that require measurement. The tube could slide up and down so the height is variable, and have adaptors for different size necks.
