Can Pencil Holder
Category: Pencil holder, desk storage, shop storage, pen holder, desktop accessory, office
Problem: I have lots of different work surfaces that I use, either in the house, desks, near the kitchen, and in the shop, where I need to store pencils, pens, and other miscellaneous items. I like to have something that is relatively narrow in diameter and fairly high so that the pens and pencils , rulers, etc. stand upright. However, most items that meet that criteria are easily tipped over because they have a narrow base.
Action: I thought that if I connected three or more aluminum drink cans together after the tops had been removed, it would certainly add stability, be inexpensive, and be fairly versatile. I made several using command strip double-sided adhesive to connect the cans.
Result: It works great!
Additional Thoughts: This is really an ideal craft project. After the aluminum cans are connected together they can be painted and decorated in some way. And someone could really string together any number of these to make a large cluster or a long row to hold whatever they needed at the ready.
