Laptop Desk Computer Catch
Category: Laptop cart, furniture
Problem: Another thing that I did later with my laptop cart was to rethink the solution to the computer wanting to slide off the front of the cart when I had the shelf at a comfortable angle for typing while sitting in my easy chair. The original approach was to tie a string around a bottom adjustment knob that came up over the back of the shelf in a loop that I would put over the screen of the laptop and it would rest in the hinge area of the laptop. Should the cart accidentally be jostled, the computer would be caught by the string. However, I had an accident recently where I had forgotten to put on the string. Luckily, the laptop slid into my lap.
Action: To prevent my forgetfulness putting the laptop in jeopardy, I decided to create something that the laptop would always be secured by. I cut some fairly thick plastic in the form of some tabs and screwed them into the already raised lip of the cart. They are of a size that will keep the computer from sliding off, but yet are not so large that they interfere with my hands as I am using the computer.
