Outside Sun Curtain
Category: Temperature control, shades, curtain, blinds, seasonal, summer, house
Problem: The porch on my cottage faces East Southeast. When the sun comes up on a summer morning, and travels around, the porch will become quite warm from the sun streaming in.
Action: The southernmost third of my porch is not shaded. I hung, outside, from the overhang, a light fabric that allows some light through, and actually glows in the light, but basically reflects most of the heat from the sun. It makes a huge difference in the temperature on the porch. I remove this in the winter when I want the sun to beam in and warm the porch.
Result: It works great!
