Wide Floor Duster
Category: Household, attachment, floor, cleaning
Problem: The floors in my cottage are laminate. I have a dog that sheds. Running the vacuum cleaner with its small footprint takes a lot of time.
Action: I had an old Swiffer mop handle and base so I attached a longer board to it, almost 2 feet wide. I took a towel and cut it down the middle to use as a pad. I take the towel, put it down, place on it the board that is attached with wing nuts to the mop head, and glide it over the floor, under chairs, and around tables, picking up lots of loose debris and bring it around to a central place where I then vacuum it with a vacuum cleaner. While this is not a substitute for using the vacuum cleaner to get things more thoroughly cleaned, it is a quick way to cover a large surface area quickly and getting up my never ending supply dog hair.
Result: It works great!
When idea was conceived: 9/2/11
How much time it took to develop: 2 hours
How much money it took to develop: None
Current status:Available for use
Since it was originally done: It would be nice to hold the towel onto the board more securely, and that could be done with maybe a felt piece glued to the bottom surface of the board.
