Beach Umbrella Handle Add-on
Category: Beach umbrella, umbrella, large umbrella, multiple use, other, yard, pet
Problem: I am a tall person and using even the largest umbrella still means that in a little bit of a driving rain my shoes and ankles might get wet. Also, when I am out in the sun, it would be convenient if I could carry my small beach umbrella around sort of like a regular umbrella.
Action: The small beach umbrella I have has a shaft that the umbrella slide moves up and down. It fits into another shaft with a clamp that will position the umbrella higher or lower. In that second shaft there is a point on the bottom to be stuck into the sand. The top section is really just about right in terms of shaft length to hold onto and use as a regular umbrella while walking around. I have a handle from a bicycle that I slipped over the end, which made it easier to grip and of course covered the sharp metal edge.
Result: It works great! Now the umbrella serves two purposes. With the handle slipped off, it can function as a normal beach umbrella, and with it put on, serves as a regular umbrella.
Additional Thoughts: I now use this all the time to walk my dog in the rain.
